Diane Wagoner Hester, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 14, 2020, following a brief illness.

She was born on February 23, 1939, in Decatur, Alabama. A 1957 graduate of Sheffield High School, Diane attended Florence State Teacher’s College, which is now the University of North Alabama. She served as the medical administrator for a private medical practice for over 30 years, and she was an active member and officer of the Alabama Medical Group Management Association.

Diane enjoyed a life filled with things she loved: family, friends, travel, music and great food. She was a wonderful cook and used her gift of hospitality to serve others. Time spent with Diane was sure to include laughter, and her friends and family members will continue to tell stories of her mischievous antics for years to come. She loved spending time near the water, especially along the Tennessee River and at Blue Mountain Beach, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle Hall Wagoner and William Sutton Wagoner; and her brother, William Sutton Wagoner Jr. Diane is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Hester McKinney (Ron), and a host of loving family members, friends and colleagues.

Arrangements for a graveside service to celebrate her life are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB WTI 210 1720 2nd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35294; or to Sozo Children, 4 41st Street South, Birmingham, AL 35222.

Pinkard Funeral Home Russellville assisted the family.
