Memorial services for Mrs. Diane Dorsett, age 79, will be Monday October 7, 2024, at 2pm in the chapel of Shelton Funeral Home with Brent Smith officiating. Visitation will be Monday October 7, 2024, beginning at 11am until service time at 2pm in the Shelton Funeral Home chapel.
Mrs. Dorsett, a life-long active member of the Trenton Church of Christ, passed away peacefully at her home Friday September 20, 2024, in Trenton, TN.
Mrs. Dorsett was a Peabody High School graduate where she played basketball and tennis and later attended Freed Hardeman College where she continued to play tennis on intramural teams. She was an avid bowler, liked to cook, loved antiquing, enjoyed travelling with her daughters, and her favorite place was Perdido Key, Florida and random road trips. She was also an avid TN Vols, Peabody football, and Peabody Band of Gold supporter. Music was always a special interest of hers, especially to see her grandchildren perform with the Peabody Band of Gold. Her favorite musical artists were Elvis, Hank Williams Jr., Jimmy Buffet, and Kid Rock. Her other interests include boating and the love of water whereas a young child she would go fishing with her family on Kentucky Lake.
Mrs. Dorsett met the love of her life, Derrell Dorsett, at the Trenton Skating Rink and were married September 4, 1964, and became co-owner of the nine generation Dorsett Farms.
Mrs. Dorsett’s occupations included bookkeeping in the lab at the Gibson General Hospital, the bookkeeper for the Dorsett Electric Company, and a teacher’s assistant working with special needs children in the Trenton Special School District for 30 years.
Mrs. Dorsett was preceded in death by her husband, Derrell Dorsett; her parents, Troy and Louise (Wadey) Law; and her brother, Troy Duane Law.
Mrs. Dorsett is survived by; two daughters, Susan Malone and husband Chris Malone and Penny Richardson; four grandchildren, Chandler Richardson, Caroline-Eve Richardson, Marliegh Malone, and Maggie Malone; and one great-grandson, Stetson Dean Riffle all of Trenton, TN.
