Dewey (Doodle) Adams, a life long resident of Clifton, was born October 28, 1940 in Savannah, TN the son of the late Homer Farris and Elva Mae Prater Adams. His father served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was killed in action. Doodle was only 4 years old at the time but he always was pround of his fathers sacrifice and spent his life trying to honor his service. Mr. Adams departed this life Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro at the age of 74 Years, 1 Month, 15 Days. Earlier in life he had worked on a river towboat. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Adams, two sisters, Richard Mae Lineberry and Joyce Adams. He had spent the last ten years at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesboro.
He is survived by a sister, Jackie Smith of Clifton, TN, nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday, December 15, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Clifton Church of God with Bobby Pickett and Roger Reece officiating. Burial will follow in Prater’s Chapel Cemetery near Clifton with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 14th from 6:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home and on Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at Clifton Church of God.
Pallbearers are Daryl Lineberry, Mitchell Lineberry, Hasten Adams, Carlton Smith, Jerry Prater, and Toby Lineberry.
