WAYNE COUNTY – A tornado laid the small community of Lutts to rubble Wednesday night. The storm, which was predicted to be widespread and destructive, lived up to forecasters’ expectations. A half-dozen people were killed in Mississippi and at least 3 residents of Perry County, Tennessee lost their lives as the line of thunderstorms and embedded tornadoes marched northeast from the Texas-Mississippi Gulf Coast. The forecast for this weekend calls for more strong storms.

The Quad-Cities Daily recorded the damage in Lutts in photos, as utilities crews, fire department personnel, Sheriff and Tennessee Highway Patrol officers worked to clean up and secure the area which is just 20 miles north of Lauderdale County, Alabama.
