Derrick Lee Newton, age 39, of Summertown, TN passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at his residence. He was a native of Lawrenceburg, TN, a contractor, and of the Baptist Faith. Derrick loved taking care of his family, playing baseball, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Heatherly; his grandmother, Cathye Phillips; step-grandfather, Harold Mobbs; and grandfather, Grady Newton, Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Christy Mobbs (Terry) of Summertown, TN; his father, Grady Newton, Jr. of Lawrenceburg, TN; two daughters, Tate Newton and Tess Newton, both of Loretto, TN; one sister, Haley Wright (Seth) of Summertown, TN; grandmother, Reva Heatherly of Summertown, TN; and grandfather, Henry Phillips of Lawrenceburg, TN; many extended family members including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, December 15, 2023, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 16, 2023, with Tony Gordy officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Grove Cemetery in Summertown, TN.
