Derek Nelson DriskillDerek Nelson Driskill of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his home. He was born to Timothy Cameron Driskill and Alicia Nelson Driskill on October 14, 1991, in Huntsville, Alabama. Derek graduated from Virgil I. Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama in 2010. He studied business at both the University of Alabama and Athens State. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Driskill; parents, Timothy and Alicia Driskill; brothers, Sean and Harrison Driskill.

Derek grew up with a passion for sports. As a young kid, he was greatly skilled at playing soccer and hockey. Mostly, he loved to spend time with his family. From cheering with his father during sporting events, competing in disc golf with his older brother, Sean, playing video games with his younger brother, Harrison, and helping his mom with different recipes, he adored it all. He also had a love for all animals. He was always a jokester and had a great sense of humor. His quick wit lit up the room and would win lots of laughs from everyone around him- most importantly he had a big heart.

As he grew up, he found a desire to travel. He spent his years after his graduate studies living in different states and exploring the outdoors. He enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Oklahoma, California, and Europe. He met his wife, Sarah, at Death Valley National Park and journeyed to Romania to meet her family, learn about the Romanian culture, and ultimately get married. He was smart and giving. Derek loved helping others.

A private funeral service celebrating his life was held on Wednesday, June 30 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 13550 Chaney Thompson Rd SE, Huntsville, AL 35803.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Not One More Alabama in memory of Derek.
