Derek Lee Humphries It is with deep sorrow and regret the family of Derek Lee Humphries, announces his untimely and totally unexpected death as a result of a tragic accident on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Derek was born in Morgan County, Alabama June 20, 1988 son of Ronald Leon Humphries and Shelia Ann Mallard Humphries. He was a resident of Eidson Chapel Community of Holly Pond, AL and a 2006 graduate of Holly Pond High School. He was currently a valued employee of Industrial Manufacturing Specialties (IMS) in Priceville, AL. where he worked as a machinist. When Derek wasn’t working you could find him spending time with family, enjoying the beach, riding his jet ski on the lake and watching Alabama football.
Family members Derek leaves behind to cherish memories include his mother, Shelia Humphries and her special friend, Floyd Maroney; his special friend, Kymberli Minor and her children, Nova and Chevy Stephens; aunt and uncle, Tony and Cindy Mallard; cousins, Dylan Mallard, Joey Mallard, Chase and Georgia Mallard, Brian and Brandi Steorts, Jennifer and Mike Jones, Jonathon and Brandy Humphries, Grant, Grady, Benton, Branch, soon to be Denver, Cora, Eva, Anna Gracie and Colton Thrasher, Ily Vivianne Nicole, Olivia, Sophie, Chace, Addison and Danielle.
Family members waiting at the gates of Heaven to receive Derek include his father, Ronald Humphries, grandparents, Pete and Wanda Mallard and Herbert and Sue Carol Humphries; and his two uncles, Nickey Mallard and Randy Humphries.
Services for Derek will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, Alabama. Family members will receive friends and guest at a visitation from 12:00 noon until the funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. Brother Terry Butts and Brother Paul Kelley will officiate. Burial will be in Edison Chapel Cemetery in Baileyton, AL. Serving as pallbearers are Dylan Mallard, Chase Mallard, Josh Bullard, John Wayne Maroney, Tyler Kelsoe and Chad Kelsoe. Honorary pallbearers are: Jerry Bullard, Tony Mallard, Floyd Maroney, Russell Dunn Rickey Stone, Mike Kelso and Joey Mallard.
