He served in the United States Army where he was a SGT, he was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, with 1 Bronze Battle Star, 1 Overseas Service Battle and Good Conduct Medal. He worked for Merita Bread Company, and retired from Coke Drink Company having worked for 39 years. He was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church in Double Springs, AL. He belonged to Masonic Lodge #877 at Double Springs, AL. where he held many chairs, and having received his 70 Year Pin.
His visitation will be Sunday April 25, 2021 from 1:30PM – 3:00PM at First Baptist Church in Double Springs, AL., with his funeral at 3:00PM in the church, Jerry Pearson officiating. Burial in Double Springs Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his son, Denton Henderson, Jr.; 2 grandsons and 4 great grandchildren; brother, Willard Henderson; a host of nieces and nephews
And a very special person, Ms. Sheila Gammill Roden, whom he loved and respected for her love, commitment and concern for his health and well being for the last 3 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson Henderson and Hollie Wilburn Henderson; several brothers and sisters; wife, Mildred Doris Henderson.
