Dennis Wayne Ross, age 78 , passed away January 9, 2024, at the TN State Veterans Home at Humboldt.
He was born September 14, 1945, to L. J. and Geneva Blakney Ross in Huron, TN.
Dennis graduated from Southside High School in 1963 and joined the TN National Guard in 1963, serving 28 ½ years. During his Military service he received numerous awards and certificates. He earned his title of SFC Dennis Ross.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Karen Ross; sons, David Ross (Cindy) and Don Ross (Kim); a daughter, Kim Tummins (Tony); grandchildren, Cody Ross, Hunter Ross, Kaitlyn Norsworthy, Justin Parrish , Cody Tummins and Kelsey Tummins and great grandchildren, Tynlee, Kyler, Carolyne, Eli, Callie and Chevy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Dot.
Dennis was an avid TN Vols Football fan. He enjoyed watching old westerns the history channel and crime mysteries. He also loved country dancing.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 11th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with burial to follow at Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM service time Thursday.
