Mr. Dennis Raymond Evans of Florence passed away Friday, August 17, 2012. His family will receive friends for visitation Monday August 20, 2012 from 11 until 2 PM at Colbert Memorial Chapel with funeral service beginning at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery. Dennis was employed by the Florence City Gas Department, was a member of the Elks Lodge, and a member of several local bass clubs. He also was a professional fishing guide.
He is survived by his daughters Chappell Evans and Whitney Evans; his son, Denny Griffith; granddaughters, Vivian Evans and Bree Griffith; brother Vernon Evans (Charlotte); sister, Jackie Evans (Rudy); his longtime companion Donna Lewis and her daughter Cameron; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Betty Evans; son, Dean Evans; sisters, Cathy Trapp and Carolyn Dalrymple.
Pallbearers will be Jerry (Bit) Hyde, Keith “Skeeter” Hyde, Wesley Slay, Jim Murphy, Sam Parker, and Henry “Rocky” Rockhill. Honorary pallbearers are the employee’s from of the City of Florence.
Special thanks to Dr. Allen Long, Dr. Holden, Dr. Naadu, nurses at ECM CCU, Cath Lab, Florence Rehabilitation, and the many friends who cared for our dear loved one.
