Born August 9, 1959, in Jackson Tennessee, Dennis was the son of the late Walter Clinton “W. C.” and Annie Grace Kirkman Smith Foust. He received his education from Pine Grove High School and was married on November 6, 1998, to his beloved wife, Martha Medlin Smith, who survives. Together they lived in Tippah County where Dennis was considered a “jack of all trades” that included driving a truck, cutting wood, and quite the shade tree mechanic. Dennis was also employed as a supervisor with Frontier Furniture until his retirement.
Attending Academy Baptist Church at a young age, Dennis and Martha were members of Lowry Church. Always a dare devil who lived life to its fullest, he loved good music, riding motorcycles, fishing, Nascar, dominos, and putting together puzzles. Above all Dennis loved his family most. He always looked forward to getting together with friends, attending family events, and spoiling his grandchildren. At times he could be stubborn, but had a heart of gold, always helping anyone he could, and supporting his family in anything they did. He leaves a legacy of that as a faithful husband, loving father, wonderful grandfather, caring brother, and true friend.
This left to cherish his memories include his wife of twenty-five years, Martha Medlin Smith, one daughter, Valerie Hood, two sons, Bob Stanford, and Keith Hood, one sister, Anita Lindsey (Ronnie), one stepsister, Sandra Foust Richardson, one stepbrother, Troy Foust, seven grandchildren, and his canine companion, Runt.
He is also preceded in death by one daughter, Nachesca Nichole Smith, a stepfather, Charles Olion Foust, his grandparents, Jessie and Ola Bell Clark Smith and Carl and Lois Goolsby, and a granddaughter, Angel.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Doug Kirkman, Kerwin Kirkman, Adam Kirkman, Ronnie Lindsey, Christopher Winter, Jr., and Vernon “Poncho” Reed.
