Dennis Loyd Collins, age 75, passed away unexpectedly in his home in Culleoka, Tennessee, on January 15, 2024. Born on June 7, 1948, in Giles County, Tennessee, to the late Roy Dean Collins and Birdie Alene Watts Collins, Dennis was one of six siblings.
Dennis found the love of his life, Sandy Whitehead, and on October 15, 1976 they joined together in marriage, embarking on a journey that spanned 47 beautiful years. Together, they built a loving family and created lasting memories.
Dennis dedicated over 43 years of his life to CPWS, where he served as a Lineman. His hard work and commitment were a testament to his character, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.
In the simplicity of life’s pleasures, Dennis found true joy. Whether savoring a cup of coffee and breakfast with his brothers, playing a round of golf, showering affection on his beloved dogs, or admiring the scenic beauty of God’s Land, Dennis embraced each moment with gratitude.
A passionate football enthusiast, Dennis could always be found cheering on his favorite teams, the UT Vols and the Tennessee Titans. His spirited support added an extra layer of excitement to the game, reflecting his love for the sport.
Dennis adored and treasured his family, finding immense joy in their presence. His love was a guiding light, and the bonds he forged with each family member were a source of strength and warmth.
Dennis is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Sandy Collins; his children: Chris Collins, Dana Jones, Rodney (Briggett) Collins, and Brad (Callie) Collins; grandchildren: Drew Collins, Kayla Allen, Jade Collins, Brooklyn White, Jodie Collins, Coby Collins, Josie Collins, Nic Collins, Jarrett Collins, Zachary Jones, Hannah Collins, and Jordan Collins; great-grandchildren: Braxton Farlow, Gage Collins, Mason Hill, Nash White, Azlynn Aviles, Zane Hill, Weston Brewer, Brantley Hill, and Sawyer Hill; siblings: Royce (Beth) Collins, Steve (Cindy) Collins, Terry Collins, Gary Collins, and Darlene (David) Cooper.
In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his grandchild, Jakob Collins, and daughter, Angel Collins.
A visitation to celebrate Dennis’s life will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. The funeral service will take place on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with two hours of visitation prior. Bro Bob Vassar will be officiating. To follow, Dennis will be laid to rest in the Garden of Peace at Polk Memorial Gardens
