Dennis E. Austin, 82, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013.
Mr. Austin was a resident of Florence.
Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Monday at New Hope Church of Christ. The service will follow, with burial at New Hope Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Austin; son, Terry Austin; parents, Omer and Velma Austin; brothers, Ray, Earl, Dewey, O.F. and Tanner Austin; sister, Eunice Marks.
He is survived by son, Ed Austin (Melissa); daughter, Darla Austin; daughter–in–law, Cindy Austin; seven grandchildren, Christy Woods (Greg), Sue Ann Brewer (Darrell), Amanda Brewer (Jason), Drae Rice (David), Wesley Austin (Kristy), Janet Butler (Michael), Whitney Risner (Tony).
Pallbearers will be Wesley Austin, Darrell Brewer, Tydus Stewart, Chandler Brewer, Austin Brewer, Kenley Brewer, Tim Bassie.
Honorary pallbearers will be elders of New Hope Church of Christ, Ottie Joe Smith and Jimmy Dodd.
Mr. Austin was the owner of Burcham Furniture for 30 years. He was third-degree Blue Lodge Master Mason, of Rossville, Ga., Lodge 397. He enjoyed going to Ryan’s for lunch, cutting grass and sitting in his swing smoking his cigar.
The family would like to thank the PCU and ICU at ECM, Dr. David Brown and Dr. Webb, as well as the Summit Rehab for their special care.
Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights, will be directing the service.
