Dennis Keith Daniels was born February 8, 1948 in Bridgeton, New Jersey to Sophie C Daniels and William H Daniels Sr.
Denny went to work at HCI coatings in Colton, California back in the mid 70s in the accounting department. HCI turned into Whittaker and Whittaker into Morton, and when he came to the Decatur site on business, he said he fell in love with Decatur within an hour after he got off the airplane. He knew this was where he wanted to be.
He transferred here as Site Controller of accounting, and eventually he worked into other positions in purchasing, Transportation Manager running a fleet of trucks that transported paint all over the United States, and becoming Regional Supply Chain Manager of raw materials to manufacture paint. He made vary lucrative deals to purchase materials for all of our paint manufacturing sites. Denny was afraid of flying. He attended “Fear Of Flying” school to overcome this and afterwards traveled extensively for his work. He became well respected in his field. His integrity was such that his handshake was as good as his word with his colleagues.
After retirement, he worked for BP as a consultant. BP became Indorama, and then he finally retired from there in 2018.
Denny loved living in the south. He always said no way would he ever live anywhere other than the south once he moved here.
Denny had a stroke recently, and passed away at River City Nursing Home.
He is survived by his wife Phillis, his brother, Bill, his four dogs, Rusty, Sally, Baxter, Sadie, his cat, Tua, and countless friends and colleagues.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at River City, and Hospice, especially Bridget Taylor, for their excellent care, kindness, and awesome professionalism during his illness.
