Dennis A. Backus, Jr., age 51, of Winchester, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System in Winchester, Tennessee. He was born on January 29, 1973, in Escondido, California to Dennis and Cherryl Evans Backus. Dennis was a self-made mechanic. He had a passion for engines and a knack for troubleshooting. Dennis built a reputation as an honest mechanic and was a true master of his craft. Dennis operated his own shop where he would tirelessly tinker, diagnose problems, and even fix the most stubborn vehicles back to life. Dennis was also a devoted father, he left an indelible mark on the lives of his children, who were the center of his universe. Dennis’s love for his kids knew no bounds. He lived his life with unwavering kindness and always put the needs of others before his own. His warmth, empathy, and genuine interest in those around him made him a beloved figure in every aspect of his life. He is survived by his loving parents, Cherryl and Dennis Backus, Sr; children, Kambrie (Tyler) Harrison and Raelynn Backus; sister, Kathy Finch; grandchildren, Harper Harrison and Henley Harrison; nieces, Alexia Finch and Vanessa Finch; companion, Cherie Gunsell and her children, Chris, Brandon, Cheyanne, and Cherea Gunsell; granddaughter, Emmarie Gunsell.
