Denair “Lanny” Evans, Jr., age 64 of Shannon, MS, passed away on Wednesday, November 4th, 2015. The visitation will be Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel with Dwight Rivers officiating. Burial will be in the Margerum Community Cemetery.
Lanny was a veteran in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and loved his grandbabies. His pastimes include fishing, Alabama football and advancing Lady Sports in Cherokee, AL. He was preceded in death by his father, Denair L. Evans, Sr.
Lanny is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Longmire Evans; his mother, Peggy Carter (Lloyd); daughter, Brandi Young (Michael); brother, Keith Evans (Gail); sister, Pam Robinson (James); and grandchildren, Matthew Young and Malloree Harrell.
The American Legion Post 11 will serve as pallbearers.
