Delton Gene Graham of Spruce Pine, AL passed away on February 20, 2025.
Mr. Graham was a member of the Quinn Memorial Church of Christ and a native of the Frog Pond community. He served in the National Guard for seven years and was a member of the Spruce Pine Masonic Lodge #608.
Gene loved people, and he loved to talk. He knew at an early age that he wanted to be of service to the public. This drive led him to serve as Franklin County’s youngest county commissioner in the late 50’s and early 60’s. After retiring from Russellville Gas Company, Gene ran for public office again. He was reelected County Commissioner (District 2) in 2000 and served 2 consecutive terms. His love for people and his community was unwavering.
Gene was a member of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association. He believed his gift of gab and cattle trading throughout his life allowed him the opportunity to meet lifelong friends. He enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables for the community. He especially loved growing watermelons and looked forward to the Russellville Watermelon Festival every year.
The service will be held at Spry Funeral Home in Russellville, Alabama on Sunday February 23, 2025. Visitation at 1:00, a service will follow in the chapel, and there will be no graveside service. He will be laid to rest in Grissom Cemetery in Frog Pond.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Graham; daughter, Connie R. Graham; his adopted daughters, Karen Hill, Melody Pearson, and Tammy Ward. In addition, he leaves behind nieces and nephews and a host of extended family.
