Della Mae Quick Esslinger

Mrs. Della Mae Quick Esslinger of Hazel Green, Alabama peacefully went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 5:36am while at home.  She was 89.

She was born December 20, 1933 in Hazel Green to Horace and Leoma Quick.   She married Carl James Esslinger and was a member of Murphy Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Esslinger was preceded in death by her husband, Carl James Esslinger, by her parents, Horace and Leoma Quick, by her sister, Sarah Parvin, and by her brother, Lurlon Quick.

Surviving family members include her children:  Janice (Gary) Gray of Meridianville, Sherry (Randy) Hunter, Mickey (Dana) Esslinger, and Doris Esslinger – all of Hazel Green;  Her four grandchildren: Jonathan Gray of Nashville, TN; Jessica Hunter of Nashville, TN; Ashli (Matt) Ingram of Huntsville, Preslee Esslinger of Hazel Green;  Her brother, Elton (Gertrude) Quick of Taft, TN;  Her sister, Freda Quick of New Market.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4pm until 6 pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 6pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike McFarlen officiating.    There will be a graveside service on Friday at 10am at Stateline Cemetery.

Mrs. Esslinger will be remembered for her Christian faith, for her commitment to raising a family and being a homemaker, her love for her husband, children, and grandchildren, and for the love and kindness she showed to the numerous children she kept in her home daycare after she became an empty-nester.   Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all those who loved her.
