Della Mae Carmon, aged 70, passed peacefully on September 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 19, 1954, Della dedicated her life to education and community service, fostering a passion for learning that she shared with countless students over the years. As a teacher at Lacey’s Spring Elementary School, she enjoyed teaching English as a Second Language towards the end of her teaching career. She enjoyed taking many missionary trips to Romania, where she made a significant impact on the lives of many. Della’s interests extended beyond her dedication to teaching. She had a profound love for nature, often taking trips to Smokey mountain with her late husband Daniel and enjoying peaceful days fishing at the Crawford farm, where she found solace and joy. Music also played a pivotal role in her life, as she was an enthusiastic member of a singing group known as the Melody Makers, where her vibrant spirit and harmonious voice brought happiness to those around her.
She is survived by her son Jeremy Carmon and his wife Becky, and her granddaughter Layla Carmon, and her brother Riley Nelson and his wife Susie. Della also leaves behind cherished nephews Andrew Nelson and wife Eida, Mark Nelson and his wife Ashley, as well as her beloved great-nieces Jemma and Grace and beloved great-nephew, Jaxom.
Della is predeceased by her husband Daniel Carmon and her parents A.B. and Earnestine Nelson.
Her legacy of love, teaching, and community will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched with her kindness and compassion.
A Funeral Service will be at Hartselle Church of Christ on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Burial will take place in Eva Cemetery in Eva, Alabama.
