Dedrick Mandrell Tanner Dedrick Mandrell Tanner, affectionately known by many as “D”, age 48, beloved husband of Stephanie Phurrough Tanner, and a resident of Shelbyville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Henry Clay Webster officiating and Lazarus Davis providing the eulogy. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on March 26, 1976, in Columbia, Tennessee, D was the son of Charles Tanner and Tina Jenkins Tanner. He was a 1995 graduate of Columbia Central High School and dedicated twenty-six years to his career at Adient. He married Stephanie Phurrough on October 9, 2009, and together they built a life full of love and devotion.

 

A loving husband, devoted father, cherished son, and compassionate friend, D was known for his mild manner and his love for everybody. He was a jokester at heart, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His passions included basketball and a deep love for cars.

 

In addition to wife and parents, he is survived by his son, Devondrick Tanner of Columbia, daughter, Kodi Tanner of Shelbyville, sister, Glenda Harris of Nashville, brothers, Bryan (Jazmine) Tanner of Murfreesboro, Cameron (Meagan) Webster of Murfreesboro, grandmother, Rosa Akins of Columbia, mother in law, Sandra Phurrough of Murfreesboro, father in law, Michael Phurrough of Gordonsville, sisters in law, Samantha Phurrough, Stacey (Jeremy) Godwin, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pearl Scott and John Akins.
