Decatur to Host SSAC Softball Championship April 29 – May 1

DECATUR-As part of a five-year commitment, the Wilson Morgan Softball Complex will hold the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) softball championship tournament April 29 – May 1. Decatur Morgan County Tourism and the City of Decatur’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the event for nearly 200 student-athletes and coaches, along with their families, traveling from Mississippi, Georgia and within Alabama.

The seven teams competing in the SSAC softball championship tournament April 29 – May 1 are Blue Mountain (Blue Mountain, Miss.); Brewton-Parker (Mt. Vernon, Ga.); Faulkner (Montgomery, Ala.); Middle Georgia (Cochran, Ga.); Mobile (Mobile, Ala.); Stillman College (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and William Carey (Hattiesburg, Miss.).

Championship game time is 12 p.m. CST on Saturday, May 1. Tickets are being sold online only and players and fans will have their temperature scanned upon entry, and will be asked to wear masks and social distance.

Daily admission is $10/adult, $5/SSAC student with ID, $5/kids ages 11-17 and free for children 10 years and under. Tournament passes are $22 per person. Parking is free.

In 2016, SSAC announced a partnership with the City of Decatur Parks and Recreation Department and Decatur Morgan County Tourism where Wilson Morgan Softball Complex in Decatur, Ala. will host the SSAC Softball Championship for two years. The original two-year agreement has been extended through the 2021 season.

The Decatur Morgan County Tourism, City of Decatur Parks and Recreation Department and Wilson Morgan Complex staff go above and beyond to create a first-class atmosphere for our student-athletes, coaches and spectators,” stated SSAC Commissioner Mike Hall.
