DECATUR-On May 11, 2023, a detective with the Decatur Police Department’s Family Services Unit was assigned a case regarding a report of the sexual abuse of a juvenile.
As a result of the investigation, Alvaro Garcia Diaz was identified as the suspect. The case was forwarded to the Morgan County Grand Jury. On October 9, 2024, an arrest warrant was issued for Garcia Diaz for sexual abuse of a child less than 12

On November 11, 2024, officers with the Decatur Police Department conducted a vehicle stop near 11th St. SE and Somerville Rd. SE. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Garcia Diaz, was arrested on the warrant and booked into the Morgan County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
