DECATUR-Decatur Morgan County Tourism is pleased to announce the launch of a new website, providing the community with information and ideas to connect virtually with attractions and events in Decatur and surrounding areas during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Many Decatur and Morgan County attractions, museums and restaurants are temporarily closed or operating on a limited basis to help flatten the curve and to prevent the spread of Covid-19. “While residents may be quarantined in their homes, that is no reason to stop enjoying life,” said Decatur Morgan County Tourism President and CEO Danielle Gibson.

Available at https://www.armchairmoco.com/, the easily navigable website is a great way to explore Morgan County while maintaining safe social distance.

Features include:

–       Livestream music,

–       Take a virtual tour of some of Decatur’s gems,

–       Learn a new skill from neighbors,

–       Learn fun facts about the history of Decatur and Morgan County from a local expert,

–       Find a local restaurant or retail shop with curbside pickup or delivery,

–       Find upcoming events to join in on.

“Decatur Morgan County Tourism is providing a virtual resource to the community – ARMCHAIR MOCO. This website is a collection of fun things you can do in Morgan County while social distancing. The site connects you to live streams, virtual events and other activities you can do in the community without ever leaving your armchair,” said Ellen Didier, president and creative director of Red Sage Communications, Inc. “Red Sage Communications, a North Alabama full-service marketing agency located in Decatur, donated the development of this website to the community and Decatur Morgan County Tourism in gratitude for its support of our small business since our founding in 2006.”

“Over the past few weeks, we have truly seen how much our residents care about Morgan County. After all, part of what makes us so special to visitors is our sense of community. There’s something to be said about a community that welcomes guests with open arms and the people of Morgan County do just that. In light of everything going on in the world today, we wanted to showcase just how much Morgan County cares about its people and guests during these trying times. Which is why we started the new series #MoCoCares,” said Gibson.
