Debra Lee McCary ran into the arms of her Savior in the early morning hours of July 8, 2023, her 69th birthday, at Cleburne County Nursing Home in Heflin, Alabama. Debra was funny and her laughter contagious. She loved Alabama football and spending time with her extended family. Aunt Debbie, as she was lovingly known, spent her days rocking, reading and caring for two generations of nieces and nephews leaving a profound Christian witness for them to imitate. Our hearts are heavy, but we know we will see her again. She is survived by her brother, Ron McCary (Elizabeth) of Heflin; sister, Genia McCary Cobb of Thompson’s Station, TN; and two generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ronald McCary and Charlotte Jo (Howell) McCary. We would like to say “thank you” to the Cleburne County Nursing Home staff for caring for Aunt Debbie the past four years. She loved each of you.
A memorial service will be held at Chulafinnee Baptist Church on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 1:00 PM.
