Debra A Parker, 71, of Huntsville, AL passed away October 19, 2024, in her home in South Huntsville after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Benson; and her brother, Steve McDysan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Edna and Lyle McDysan, and her husband, James Curtis.

Debbie was born in Alaska, and made her way south to Huntsville, Alabama with her family. She attended Butler High School and was a 1981 graduate of Athens State University. She proudly served in the US Navy, and a was career civil servant for the Department of the Army. During that time, she was a steady influence and received many commendations and awards.

In retirement, Debbie found a life of love and adventure. She and her late husband, James, shared a love of travel, particularly cruising the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. They logged over 25 cruises and visited over 15 countries. She also enjoyed memorable travels with her daughter to the Michigan Upper Peninsula, New York, and Bermuda. She loved attending local and traveling theater productions, and always had a cat!

A family and friends graveside memorial will be held at the Florence City Cemetery, on November 6th at 1 p.m.
