Deborah Jean Sherman, 66, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born January 22, 1957, in West Memphis, Arkansas, to Thomas and Shirley Doss Wood. She was retired from the Itawamba County School District after 27 years as a teacher at Mantachie High School and Dorsey Attendance Center. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing genealogy, yard work, and loved her French bulldog, Dominoe. She especially enjoyed keeping her grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie.
Survivors include her husband, Richard “Bob” Sherman; one son, Thomas Andrew Wood (Leslie) of Fulton; two grandchildren, Kaylee Wood and Grayson Wood; four step-daughters, Alice Reid (Kyle) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Robyn Overstake (Andy) and Brittany Sherman, both of Clarksville, TN, and Jeanne Moore of Richmond, VA; one brother, Larry Wood; three sisters, Dana Fullilove (Richard), Vicky Scruggs, and Betty Reese; several step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Friday from noon until service time at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
