Deborah Gannaway Turner

Deborah Gannaway Turner passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024. Born on December 9, 1962, in Huntsville, Alabama to Edward (Eddie) Gannaway Jr. and Barbara Reed Gannaway, Debby was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and friend.

Debby graduated from Buckhorn High School in 1981 and started a career in nursing. Later, after years of being a full-time mom, she served as a substitute teacher at New Market School. She attended countless dance competitions, band concerts, tournaments and recitals. She was proud to cheer on not only her children, but all sons and daughters of the New Market community.

Debby is survived by her husband, Tom Turner; her daughter, Lindsay Turner East; her granddaughter, Eiley Blake East; her son and his husband, Kevin Turner and Evan Bryan; her father and stepmother, Eddie (Jr.) and Connie Gannaway; her brother, Eddie (III) Gannaway; her sister, Lisa Freeman; her aunt and uncle Ginger and Denny Sanders; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Gannaway.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Debby’s life at Hazel Green Funeral Home on Sunday, June 2. Visitation will begin at 1:30pm, followed by a funeral service at 3pm. She will be interred at Maple Hill Cemetery that afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Debby’s memory.
