So I’ll sing Hallelujah You were an angel in the shape of my mum When I fell down you’d be there holdin’ me up Spread your wings as you go When God takes you back He’ll say, “Hallelujah, you’re home” – Ed Sheeran
On December 7th God called Deborah Ann (Correll) Bocka (AKA Gma) unexpectedly home. Debbie was 55 years old. She was born in Newton NJ on October 19, 1966 and lived in Hackettstown, NJ until 2011 when she moved to Harvest, Al. Her parents were Frederick and Barbara (Biehn) Correll. She was the proud mother of 2 children, Jessica (Correll) Biron (married to David Biron) and Steven Correll (married to Lena (Alpaugh) Correll). She was the devoted wife to David Bocka, whom she married on July 16, 1994. Debbie was a loving grandmother to three Grandkids, Abby (10), Caleb (7), and Jhohan (5). Her grandchildren loved spending the night at her house and going shopping at Target with her. She was a beloved sister (Bob and Keith Correll) and aunt. She spent 32 years of her life as a nurse- loving and caring for patients in many areas of life including at a hospital, long-term care, and at a nursing home.
Debbie spent much of her life caring for others whether it was cooking and planning events for family, loving on and caring for the elderly parents of others or sewing up Abbys “Mr. Bear” when it got a hole in it. Debbie was always quick to volunteer to help others and her love and devotion shined through in all areas of her life. Debbie’s love and devotion for Jesus Christ was apparent in all areas of her life.
Debbie was predeceased by her parents, Frederick & Barbara Correll and sister Diane Correll. She is survived by her husband David Bocka, children Jessica Biron and Steven Correll, and siblings Robert and Keith Correll.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at The Rock Family Worship Center – Madison Campus, 1594 Old Railroad Bed Rd, Harvest, AL 35749. A Celebration of Life will follow with Pastor Pat Aube officiating. Burial will be in Ford’s Chapel Cemetery. For the services, Debbie did not want everyone to wear all black. She wanted it to be a celebration that she is now with her Savior Jesus Christ. We ask that you wear an Ugly Christmas Sweater, an Alabama shirt, or something bright.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Merea House at the Huntsville Dream Center in her memory. http://mereahouse.com/.
