Funeral service for Dean Wayne Martin, age 80, of Flintville, TN will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Milton Martin and Bro. Jeremy Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5pm until 8pm on Tuesday, July 30, at Higgins Funeral Home, and from Noon until 2pm on Wednesday, July 31, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Dean was born June 28, 1944, in Hamilton County, TN to the late Jesse Creston Martin, Sr. and Mattie Elizabeth Breedlove Martin. He could fix most anything and worked as a maintenance mechanic for many years, most recently with Dunlop in Madison, AL. Dean was a jokester and he loved to laugh and could talk to most anyone. He enjoyed fishing and spent many hours at yard sales and thrift stores. Dean was a kind, good, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He passed away July 27, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Brenda Roddy Martin; daughter Mindy Newgent and husband Tommy Lee of Elora; son, Tim Martin and wife Rhonda of Kelso; grandchildren, Travis Newgent, Callie Newgent, Brad Martin, Jamie Tiemann, Amber Wilson; 7 great-grandchildren; brother J.C. Martin, Jr.; sister, Joyce Wilkes; and his loving canine companion, Rosie. In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Huber.
