Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Dean Gidley, 83, of Southside who went to be with the Lord Monday, January 24, 2022. Rev. Thom Harrison and Rev. Mark Gidley will officiate with interment to follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services. Mrs. Gidley was born July 11, 1938, in Marion County to Burl and Ludie Chambers. She was a longtime resident of Etowah County and a member of North Glencoe Baptist Church where she assisted the secretary in the office from time to time. Mrs. Gidley worked in the secretarial field at Liberty Life Insurance Company. She also had worked at Bellsouth. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Gidley; son-in-law, Johnny Hood and sister, Barbara Langley. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Deb (Barry) Hooks; grandchildren, Jonathan (Megan) Hood and Cartie (Kevin) Mitchell; great grandchildren, Holland Hood and Arlis Mitchell; brother, J.T. “Whitey” Chambers; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Flowers will be accepted of donations may be made to North Glencoe Baptist Church, 1119 Chastain Blvd., Gadsden, AL 35903. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Magnolia Gardens and Oak Landing Assisted Living. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 10 am until 11 am.
