Mr. David Winter Holcomb, age 74 of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at his residence. David was a 1958 graduate of Brilliant High School. He was a lifelong faithful Christian, a quite and generous man, an avid deer hunter, and a loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Foster Holcomb and Annie Beatrice Trentham Holcomb, and 3 half brothers, Jim and George Holcomb, and William Trentham. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gennell “Nell” Self Holcomb, a daughter, Anna Mobley of Winfield, a son, Allen Holcomb (April) of Birmingham, 5 grandchildren, Laura Taylor of Gardendale, and Summer Taylor of Winfield, Will Holcomb (Allison) of Spring , TX, Ben Holcomb of Auburn, and Jacob McElyea of Athens, AL, and a sister, Sybil Beasley (Clarence) of Texas. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015 from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel, with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. Charlie Rawls will officiate. A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. (service time) on Monday at the funeral home.*
