David Williams Grimes, Sr Profile PhotoDavid Williams Grimes, Sr., passed away on August 28, 2023, in Antioch, Tennessee. He was born on August 1, 1945, and was the son of Catherine Williams Grimes and David Thomas Grimes. In his college years he played football at Tennessee State University, where he made many lifelong friends.

David dedicated his time and skills to various industries throughout his life. He worked at CPS Industries of Franklin, J.W. Cross in Franklin, and Green Pasture Farms of Brentwood.

David’s proudest accomplishments were not rooted in his career or education but in his role as a father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Left to cherish David’s memory is his wife, The love of his life and best friend of 24 years, Emma J. Grimes; his children, David W. Grimes, Jr., Darryl W. (Joy) Grimes, Karen (Edward) Grimes Rucker, Kendra Grimes-Kinsey, Jamie N. Grimes; bonus children, Deashea (Anthony) Williams, Constance (Patrick) Reese, and Shane Reese; brother, Bill James Grimes, two nephews David T. Grimes and Bill J. Grimes; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; mother of his children, Lou Ella Booker Grimes; fur babies, Nonae, Stormy, and LuLu; special friends, Donnell Lane, Elder Mackey Morton, Jimmy Esmon, Calvin Jones, Robert Grant, Bryan and Vanessa Waite and family, Von Greer; brother in law, Othni Reese; sister in law, Mary (Ricky) Lawrence, Betty and Terry Moton, Peggy Smith and Frank Vandyke; numerous other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and David Grimes; son in law, Christopher Kinsey; daughter in law, Charlene Grimes; and his fur babies Nola, CJ, Willie P, Missy, and Edna.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 1:00PM-2:00PM September 1, 2023 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at 2:00PM.
