David William Talley With heavy hearts, the family of David William Talley, age 84, announces his passing. David, a longtime resident of the Baileyton community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 9, 2025, at Diversicare of Arab.
Born on December 2, 1940, in Jackson County, Alabama, David was the beloved son of Arthur William Talley and Leona Gilliam Talley. He was a dedicated member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and lived his faith as a proud Baptist. David owned and operated Talley Construction, leaving a mark on his community through his work.
In his younger years, David enjoyed playing softball, golfing, fishing, and camping. He found joy in watching television, working on small engines, riding his motorcycle trike, and his various carpentry projects. His skillful hands and adventurous spirit brought happiness to those around him and created lasting memories for his family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his loving wife, Syble Keller Talley; his parents, Arthur and Leona Talley; his son, Paul David Talley; brothers, Kenneth Talley and Bobby Talley; and sisters, Ollie Mae Swafford and Mary Ruth Dixon.
He leaves behind a loving family to mourn his loss and cherish their memories: sons, James Glenn Talley (Tammy) and Allen Lynn Talley (Lisa); daughters, Rita Briscoe and Anna Cluxton (Andy); ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and daughter in law, Maria Talley.
David’s legacy will be remembered as a devoted family man, a respected businessman, and a good friend.
Services for David will be at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, Alabama. The family will receive friends and guests for a visitation Saturday, September 13, 2025 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00pm. The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2025 at 2:00pm following a short visitation an hour prior to the service. The Reverand Robert Brantley will be conducting services. Honored to serve as pallbearers and escorting David to his final resting place in Mt. Hermon Cemetery will be Steven Tanner, Greg Bryan, Justin Bryan, Joe Bryan, Zach Artis and Rodney Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Andy Cluxton and Chris Gibbs. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
