David William Morrison, Sr. age 88 passed away Wednesday afternoon December 16, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born October 3, 1927 in Chester County, the son of the late Walter Leo and Sibyl Ellen Bulliner Morrison. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1945 and attended Union University for two years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Virginia Lee Stumph in 1948. They made their home in Jackson and moved to the family farm in the Phillips School/Montezuma community in 1965.
He spent most of his adult life in agriculture business. He sold feed for Wayne Feed, Master Mix, and Super Sweet. He owned and operated Bolivar Milling Company for ten years. He worked at SWHRA until he retired. During his working career he always raised cattle on the family farm.
He served as a County Commissioner in the Chester County Quartely Court for many years and had served as Committee Chair on various committees.
He was an avid bird hunter, coon hunter, and fisherman. He loved the outdoors.
He had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson for fifty years and had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Morrison Allen and Vicki Morrison Finley both of Henderson a son, David William Morrison, Jr. of Henderson; two grandchildren, Michelle Newman and Joshua Morrison a great grandchild, Tucker Newman and one brother, Denny Leo Morrison of Shreveport, LA.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Brad Patterson officiating and burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday.
