davidFuneral for Major David Singletary, 66, of Trinity, will be Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. at The Salvation Army Church wth Captain Donnie Dohmann and Captain David Sams officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery in West End, Atlanta, Georgia, at a later date.

Major Singletary, who died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at his residence, was born March 12, 1947, in Bradenton, Florida, to John Singletary and Vera Winsor. David was a retired Salvation Army officer with 46 years of active service. He loved fishing, his girls (Misty and Michelle) and his grandchildren, Julianna, Tucker and Shelby.

David was commissioned with the “Messengers of the Faith” session as a Salvation Army officer in 1968. He served as a Corps officer for 38 years in the Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi divisions. In 2007, he was transferred to the ALM Divisional Headquarters where he served as the assistant Disaster Coordinator. In 2009, marching orders sent him to the MWV Division where David served as the Men’s Fellowship Secretary/Disaster Service Coordinator.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Major Brenda Singletary; daughters, Michelle Singletary and Misty Kingsbury of Maryland; brothers, Chester Smith of Florida and Robert Smith of Georgia; sisters, Jessie Mosley of Florida; and grandchildren, Julianna Kingsbury, Tucker and Shelby Singletary.
