David-Rhea-1428507654Mr. David Rhea, age 63 of Bolivar, Tennessee, passed from this life Wednesday morning, April 8, 2015 at his home.

The husband of Suzanne Garrett Rhea, who survives, he worked as General Manager with Colonial Country Club, was a service technician with Superior Plumbing/Heating in Bolivar and was owner of Yum Yum Catering and Concessions in Bolivar. He was born May 18, 1951, in Somerville, son of the late James Samuel Rhea, Sr. and Annie Marie Crawford Rhea and lived in Somerville until 1986, when he moved to Memphis. He lived in the Memphis area until 1992 at which point he made his home in Bolivar where he served the city as a councilman for the past 6 years, was active on the Hardeman County Fair Board and a member of the Rotary. An avid chef, he enjoyed cooking and entertaining and an occasional round of golf. He was the founder of the Memphis Bar-B-Que Network. Mr. Rhea was a member of Bolivar First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, whom he married on March 26, 1988, survivors include a daughter, Payton Rhea of Bolivar; two sons and a daughter in law, Dave (Dana) Rhea and Chad Rhea, all of Somerville; a brother and sister in law, Sammy (Becky) Rhea of Somerville; a brother in law and sister in law, Bill, Jr. and Adele Garrett, of Bolivar; a sister in law, Ann Garrett of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother in law, Mark Garrett. Serving as honorary pall bearers for the funeral are his friends, Frank Wilhite, Johnny Fortune, Chris Bell, Gary Barber, Sonny McQueen, Frankie Pittman, Steve Hornsby, Tommy and Bobby Riles, Jac Belet, Scott Turner, Richard Hodge and the late Glenn Wiggins. The family requests memorial donations in David’s name be made to the First United Methodist Church in Bolivar or to American Cancer Society’s Harrah’s Hope Lodge, 718 Union Ave. Memphis TN 38103.
