David Ray Satterwhite, age 81 of Huntland, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Colfax, Washington on December 4, 1942, to the late John Davis and Daynea Mae (Berlin) Satterwhite. David was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in combat in the Dominican Republic. During his time in the Army, he worked as a paratrooper. He then worked for Caltrans. He was involved in search and rescue as well as being a ham radio operator in Klickitat, Washington. Never officially retiring, David continued to work on farms harvesting crops as long as he was able. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, glass etching, and woodworking. He was always looking for a new adventure and would find a road and just go… An animal lover and respecter of nature, David will be remembered as a good man and for his infectious laughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two older brothers. David is survived by his loving daughter, Sherry (Michael) Smith; son, William (Susan) Satterwhite; grandchildren, Ethan, Robby, and Lexie; companion, Betty Merrell; sisters, Georgia Muller, and Lola Baker; four-legged best friend, Addie; and several nieces and nephews. A family gathering is planned. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, (931)-967-2222
