Mr. David Ray Bates, 70, of Taft, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday. He was a Christian and member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church in Fayetteville. He was a gifted craftsman and could do anything construction-related and he had a tender heart and cared about others.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby & Lila Bates; His sister, Evelyn Rozell; His brother, Roy Sherman Bates; His brother, Thomas Glenn Bates; His sister, Lillian Gertrude Quick.
Surviving family members include his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah & Shelby Watson; his son, Phillip David Bates, His siblings: Claudia Moran, Jenell Tucker, Jimmie Bates, Jeff Bates, Dora Warren, Neuman “Sonny” Bates, Mary Alice Smith, and Paul “June” Bates. He is also survived by his three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Rev. Jenell Tucker and Claudia Moran officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at Noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service and will be in New Sharon Cemetery.
