David Owen Coggin, 58, died at his Nettleton home on August 17, 2023. Born in Tupelo on Sept. 25, 1964 to the late Benton Guin “BG” Coggin. Jr. and Jenith McCay “Mama G” Coggin, David grew up in Nettleton, graduated from Nettleton High School in 1982 and obtained a BS Degree in Business Administration from his beloved Mississippi State University. He first worked for his father’s business, Cook-Coggin Engineering, and spent most of his life farming the Coggin family farm. David loved the land, its produce and the peace and tranquility of being a farmer. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Nettleton. David raised dogs including purebred German Shepherds and English bulldogs, in honor of his alma mater, MSU.

The family will receive friends from 4PM-5PM Sunday at Crosspointe Ministries in Nettleton. A private burial will take place in the Coggin family plot at Nettleton Cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made to God’s House of Hope, P. O. Box 393, Nettleton, MS 38858. David is survived by his two children, Courtney Coggin of Saltillo, and David Owen “Bubba” Coggin, Jr. of Birmingham, AL; his grandchildren, McKaylynn Coggin and Korbyn Morris; his siblings, Buddy Coggin of Nettleton, Peggy Geno (Greg) of Booneville, and Lisa Neal (Carrson) of the Union Community; his special friend and caregiver, Dawn Inmon of Nettleton; and a whole host of nieces and nephews and their families. David was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest sister, Kay Coggin Dabbs.
