David Oneal Richardson, age 73 of Sheffield, died Sunday, April 5, 2015. His family will receive friends Wednesday, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Terry Jones of Annapolis Avenue Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
David was a native of Lauderdale County and was a retired lineman with Sheffield Utilities.
He was a member of IBEW Local #558. Preceding him in death are his parents, John Willie and Mildred Richardson and his sister, Wanda Richardson.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Katherine Clemons Richardson; sons, Gregory David Richardson and wife Mary Beth, Shannon Oneal Richardson and wife Debbie; brother, Ricky Richardson and wife Ramona; sisters, Linda Patton, Vellaree Gulley; grandchildren, Brandon Richardson and wife Sydney, Lee Richardson, Adam Richardson, Jenna Richardson; great-grandson, Grady Richardson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Brandon Richardson, Lee Richardson, Adam Richardson, Greg Thomason, Charlie Hovater and Mike Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Gaylon Gray, Roy Thompson, Clyde Lewis, Jim Walton and all past and present employees of Sheffield Utilities.
David’s family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Lawrence Carmichael, Dr. Mitchell, Dr. McClendon and the staff of Helen Keller Hospital.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Easter Seals of Northwest Alabama or the UCP Center of North Alabama in honor of his great-grandson, Grady.
