David Marlon Butler Profile PhotoMr. David Marlon Butler, a dedicated drywall finisher known for his strong work ethic and passion for music, passed away on March 8, 2024, in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 25 days. He was born on May 12, 1943, in Chewalla, TN to the late Bill Wilson Butler and Vassie Pearl Hurley Butler.

David found love and companionship with Eva Marie Smith whom he married on October 20, 1969 in Corinth, MS. Their enduring marriage of 54 years started from a single date that blossomed into a lifetime partnership.

Aside from his work accomplishments, David had a deep love for playing the guitar, singing country music tunes, and watching western films. His renditions of classics like “Sneaky Snake” and “Kaw Liga” brought joy to his children who fondly remember him serenading them with these melodies.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Marie Butler of Memphis, TN; a daughter, Lisa Holland and husband John of Eads, TN; two sons, David Butler Jr. of Memphis, TN, Stan Butler and partner Kisha Montgomery of Millington, TN; a sister, Shirley Matlock of Theo, MS; a brother, Harry Butler and wife Evelyn of Michie, TN; 

eleven grandchildren, Jessica Creel, Paige Harbison and husband Tyler, John Parker Holland, Megan Lawrence and husband Justin, Austin Ellis, Chance Butler and partner Ashley Williams, Kaylyn Butler, Cattliey Brown, Eva Cheyenne Butler, Jacquelyn Naranjo, Jose Montgomery; ten great grandchildren, Abigail, Andi, Jayce, Jonah, Justin, Mazzie, Kaden, Summer, Reagan, and Everlee; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Butler, three sisters – Lovie Price, Rachel Gray, Betty Jo Butler; three brothers – Billy Butler Jr., Bob Butler, Kenneth Butler.
