David Markim Burnett, 64, resident of Ripley, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. Mr. Burnett’s request was to be cremated.

Mr. Burnett was born February 11, 1960, in Three Rivers, Michigan, the son of the late Cecil Roy and Melba Lorine Hensley Burnett. He was employed as a Foundation Repair Specialist for 50 years and was also employed as a mechanic for UPS for the last three years. Known as a “workaholic”, Mr. Burnett volunteered his time after Hurricane Katrina helping to clean up parts of Louisiana and at while at home, raised Flemish Giant rabbits.  When he wasn’t working, he could be found fishing, hunting, and sharing quality time with his wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memories will continue to be shared by his wife Sarah Selman Burnett, two daughters, Sarah Lee Wilkerson (Whitney) of Ripley and Lisa Marie Metlock (Corey) of Angel Fire, NM, one son, David Burnett, Jr. (Rachel) of Ripley, three sisters, Virginia Huddleston of Empire, AL, Charlotte Pickett and Tina Poore, both of Dora, AL, four brothers, Lee Burnett (Judy) of KY, Gary Burnett (Samantha) and Albert Burnett, Jr., both of Ripley and Carl Wayne Burnett of Jasper, AL, seven grandchildren, Nicholas Smith (Traylee), David Burnett III, Braden Eli Burnett, Cecilia Burnett, Lana Rose Jackson, Lily Jo Jackson, Caitlyn Wilkerson and three great grandchildren, Luna and Curtis Smith, Kya Wilkerson.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister. Peggy Sue Pelt, two brothers, Lonnie Burnett and Albert Burnett.
