David Louis Stanbrough left this earth to be united with his Savior and Lord in heaven on November 19, 2023. He was 87 years old. Mr. Stanbrough was born in St. Louis, MO, on July 3, 1936. The greatest joy of his life was to study, teach, and preach the Word of God, the Bible. His second greatest joy was his wife, Martha, and his family. He preached his first sermon at the age of 16 at the Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan, MO, the town where he graduated from High School, in 1954. He furthered his education at several higher institutions of learning including the Omaha Bible Institute in Omaha, NE; Tennessee Temple University, The University of Chattanooga, The University of Virginia, and The Huntsville Institute of Technology in Huntsville, AL.

His career as a civilian employee with the U.S. Army spanned 26 years: 4 years in St. Louis, MO, with the U.S. Army Mobility Equipment Command as a Management Analyst, and 22 years with the U.S. Army Missile Command (MICOM) in Huntsville, AL. The first 18 years with MICOM he was a key staff Operations Research Analyst in the headquarters; the last 4 years at MICOM, he was the Project Manager of the DSREDS production and fielding for the first state-of­ the-art digital storage systems (13 of them) for materiel technical data and engineering drawings for the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. Despite the success he had in his secular vocational career, his main love was his avocation of Bible study, Bible teaching, and Bible preaching.

David was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Martha Bruce Maples Stanbrough. He is survived by his first wife and mother of his two natural children, Joyce Farmer. His children: Paul Stanbrough (Sandy), of Alexander City, AL; Sharon Maxwell, of Columbia, TN; Al Atchley, of Muscle Shoals, AL; Ronnie Atchley (Sonya), of Owens Cross Roads, AL; and Mark Atchley, of New Hope, AL. He also leaves behind sisters Leticia Kohler, Beverly Daniel (Roger), Margene Krantz (Doug), Nancy Stanbrough, Ruth Stanbrough and brothers Bruce Gandy (Maryanne), Tom Gandy and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the New Hope Funeral Home on November 27, 2023 at 12:00 PM with the service to follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at the Hampton Cove Cemetery, after the service.
