David Lewis Whitehead, age 67, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
David was born on February 29, 1948 in Columbia, Tennessee to the late Clifford Lewis Whitehead and Remona Butler. David proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He received the Air Award and The Army Commendation Medal. David had a big heart. He loved fast cars and motorbikes. David was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Dale Earnhardt fan. He deeply loved his family, and will be greatly missed. David never met a stranger, was a friend to everyone, and never asked for anything in return.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Michael Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
David is survived by his children Austin Whitehead of Nashville, Tennessee and Tracy (Tommy) Ring of Columbia, Tennessee; sisters Mary Sue (Gerald) Greggs of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Sandy (Dennis) Collins of Culleoka, Jeannie Graham of Columbia, Tennessee, Mary Ann (Terrell) Barns of Ethridge, Tennessee, and Celia Kay Whitehead of Columbia, Tennessee; brother Jimmy (Denise) Butler of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Randy (Michelle) Whitehead of Columbia, Tennessee, Robert (Cindy) Whitehead of Portland, Tennessee; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Becky and Patricia.
David was preceded in death by his parents Clifford Whitehead and Remona Butler and Warren Butler.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Elliott, Steve Stanfill, David Osborne, Gregg Webb, Mike Cothran, and Brad Collins.
Honorary Pallbearers are Shane Parks, Paul Beeman, Brian Fergusen, Matt Satner, Jan Mills, and Patricia Gamble McDonald.
