David Lee Denton, 71, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at his home in Ecru, MS. David was a carpenter and contractor most his life. An avid fisherman, he could catch fish when no one else was. A wonderful husband and excellent father, he loved his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. After their retirement, he enjoyed camping with his wife, Gail and dog, Bentley, his bass boat was almost as important as camping. David was a special guy that loved the Lord and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Denton; his daughter, Tina Derrick; son, Christopher Denton (Melissa); grandchildren, Alexis Derrick (Mikey), Hannah Voyles (Clay), Tanner Derrick (Cassidy), Kansas Sisco (Hunter), Bailey Denton, and Allie Grace Edge; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Armour, Aubrie Shelton, Hinleigh Shelton, Peyton Voyles, Bingham Voyles, Kinsleigh West, and Kamdyn Sisco.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert W. and Mildred Denton; maternal grandparents, Rev. Mallie and Effie Brown; and his paternal grandparents, Samual and Margret Denton.
Services will be Friday, February 16, 2024, at 2PM at Cherry Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Dustin Long and Bro. Mark Jones officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, February 15th 4-8PM at Cherry Creek Baptist Church and Friday, February 16th 12PM until service time at Cherry Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cherry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James White, Sammy Watson, Randy Simmons, Michael Shelton, Clay Voyles, and Pete Weatherly.
