David L. Pinkston, 85, of Huntsville passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024. One of three children in a military family, he was born in Chattanooga, TN but lived all over the world. He attended five different high schools, graduating from Mt. Vernon in Alexandria, VA. Following high school, David joined the National Guard before attending the University of Alabama. While in Tuscaloosa, he began working in radio as a disc jokey under the name of Dave McKay.  He would eventually come to Huntsville, with his family, where he became a well known voice on several popular stations such as WAAY, WBHP and WVOV.

David enjoyed a life-long career as a certified appraiser, broker and real estate agent, getting his start at G.W. Jones and Sons and Alvin Blackwell Real Estate before joining South Realty, where he spent most of his career.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamon and Halleen Pinkston. David is survived by his sister, Deborah Pinkston and brother, Dan Pinkston, both of Huntsville.

Visitation will be Monday, November 18, 2024 from 12:30 – 1:30 pm at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm in Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 120 Greene Street, Huntsville, AL 35801.
