David Hugh Ihrie, age 80, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024, at his residence. He was a native of Kendallville, IN, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Lawrenceburg, and retried from Murray Ohio. After retirement, he spent several years serving his community by delivering Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed birdwatching, fishing, watching baseball, collecting books and reading. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband and father of four children, grandfather of ten wonderful grandchildren, a loving brother, uncle, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Hugh and Mary Evelyn Gillespie Ihrie.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Hollman Ihrie of Lawrenceburg, TN; two daughters, Ann Ihrie Norwood (Casey) of Collierville, TN, and Beth Ihrie Reed (Chip) of Birmingham, AL; two sons, Patrick Ihrie (Shannon) of Murfreesboro, TN, and John Ihrie of Odenton, MD; one brother, Ronald Ihrie (Susan) of Nashville, TN; one nephew, Mark Ihrie; ten grandchildren, Sam Norwood, Claire Norwood, Ryan Norwood, Margo Ihrie, Ruthie Reed, Owen Reed, Bennett Reed, Jake Reed, Matty Reed, and Max Reed. Several in-laws and many wonderful nieces and nephews also survive.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, November 17, 2024, with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Lawrenceburg. The family will also receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Monday, November 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Lawrenceburg. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Lawrenceburg at 10:00 AM Monday, November 18, 2024, with Father Andrew Forsythe officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Sacred Heart Catholic School and Church of Lawrenceburg.
