David Howard Bennett, born in Lenoir City, TN September 7, 1946, lost his battle with leukemia on Sept 4th.
He was a lifelong resident of North Alabama, calling Green Mountain home for over 50 years. He graduated from New Hope High School in 1965, where he lettered in most sports, and was one of the self-renowned “Farley Four”. He often announced he could still “run faster, jump higher, dive deeper and come up dryer” than anyone – and we all believe it. David always said, “I know everything”…and he did – from racing cars, building Jeeps and classic cars, to riding bulls in the rodeo. He was also an avid hunter, marksman, Master Welder and he could “fix anything but a broken leg or a broken heart”. He was a shameless flirt and loved teasing his grandchildren – he brought smiles to all who met him.
He will be sorely missed by us all.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Paris Franklin, Sr. and Odell (Widner) Bennett; son Scotty Bennett; brothers Paris Jr., James Billy & Leo Bennett.

He is survived by his wife Connie (Campbell) Bennett; sisters Betty Loveday & Jane Bennett; daughters Davie (Mike) Bennett-Kendall and Stephanie (Anthony) Shaneyfelt; grandsons Gavin Swain, Ryan Swain and Zed Shaneyfelt; granddaughters Ginny Morris and Anna Yoder; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel.
