It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Henry Works.  He was born May 28, 1950 and passed away September 11, at the age of 74.

He was born in Gasden, Alabama into what would be the start of a big family.  He grew up with five brothers and four sisters.  He was a believer in the Lord and was baptized at a young age.  As a teenager, David met the love of his life, Gail.  They went on to build a wonderful life together for 60 years.  They raised three wonderful daughters together.  Mr. Works had 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren that he cherished and adored.  He wasn’t just a pawpaw to his grandchildren, but he was a dad to them as well.  David was a master mechanic and repairman.  He loved working on older vehicles and riding his motorcycle.  Mr. Works enjoyed the outdoors, camping, grilling, fishing or going to the lake.  He loved watching football and NASCAR along with taking spontaeous trips to the beach with his wife to watch the sunrise.  He was a simple caring man who would do anything for those he loved.  He valued family above all and will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Glenn, brothers, Glenn and Danny, as well as sister Martha.

David was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather.  He leaves behind his loving wife Angela Gail Works, daughters, Angie (Don) Frank, Tina Works and Susie (Matt Fain) Goins, grandchildren, Tabitha (Ricky) Lamar, Billie Jo (Tim) Knowles, Ashley (T.J.) Thomas, Megan (Quinten) Bohren, Julia (Kalib) Hainline, James David Samples, and Cassidy (Alex) Sketers, and great-grandchildren, Macie, Lexi, Ty, Colton, Jasper, Jaxon, Kennedy, Melody, Reagan, Elena, Jenna, Gavin Sketers, and one on the way.

Psalms 23 and Psalms 48 verse 14.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12pm until 3pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.   Funeral services will follow at 3pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randy Watts officiating.

Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
