David Glen Powers, 70 of Athens, passed away on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Powers was born on June 29th, 1954, in Detroit, MI, to Walter Edward Powers and Margie Carpenter Powers.
Mr. Powers is survived by his wife Sharon Powers; son Anthony Powers (Cindy); daughter Stephanie Payne; siblings Gayle Sullivan (Richard), Jerry Powers, and Sandy Sivley (Benny); grandchildren Mackenzie Powers, Levi Powers, Katelyn Payne, Brandon Cooper, Devan Cooper, and Braxton Bowen; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Martha Nash.
Funeral services for Mr. Powers will be Thursday, August 22nd, 2024, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Donald Terry officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Levi Powers, Aaron Sivley, Devan Cooper, Braden Morrow, Braxton Bowen, and Alex Mason.
Mr. Powers was a skilled brick mason. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, metal detecting, and Alabama Football. But most importantly, he loved helping others and was a very kind soul that loved people.
